The Hand Weight by HandiThings®, a bestseller in our range, is designed to provide support and stability during fine motor and self-help activities. It is particularly useful for individuals who experience tremors during fine motor tasks, as it helps stabilize the hand.

The Hand Weight can also serve as an effective tool for physical therapy and rehabilitation. Its use can increase proprioceptive input, enhance sensory feedback, heighten kinesthetic awareness, and be used for strengthening exercises.

Applications of the Hand Weight

The Hand Weight is specifically designed to increase the number of stimuli in the muscles and joints of the hand and forearm. This is particularly useful for people who encounter difficulties performing tasks such as writing and self-care activities (brushing teeth, zipping, buttoning, and operating shoelaces) due to impaired registration.

It can also assist in stabilizing the hand for people who experience a tremor - involuntary muscle contraction and relaxation causing unwanted movements.

Features of the Hand Weight

The Hand Weight is a uniquely designed weighted pouch that rests on the back of the hand. It offers maximum flexibility and mobility for the fingers, hand, and wrist, and can be reversed and worn on the back of either hand.

It is made of durable compression jersey material in dark navy blue, is weighted with lead-free steel, and heavily stitched for added strength and durability. The weight is held on the hand with elastic finger loops and a hook-and-loop closure around the wrist.

The Hand Weight is available in five different sizes to fit most hand sizes from small children to adults. The size is determined by measuring the width of the hand across the knuckles (excluding the thumb). Please refer to the sizing chart to find the correct size.

Important Warnings

The Hand Weight is intended for short-term use of about half an hour at a time. With prolonged use of additional weight, the body becomes accustomed to the extra stimuli and it has little added value.

Please note: the elastic finger loops of this product contain LATEX.

The Hand Weight contains lead-free steel, which can present a choking hazard. For the safety of the user, adequate supervision is recommended.

The Hand Weight is best hand-washed or wiped with a warm, damp cloth and air-dried.
