The Apraxia Program, developed by TalkTools instructor and apraxia expert Renee Roy Hill, MS, CCC-SLP, is an excellent tool for speech therapy, specifically designed for clients with motor planning disorders. This program is ideal for bridging the gap from oral placement activities to speech production. With three sets of tools, it provides tactile cues for specific sounds - /m/, /p/, /b/, /oo/, /oh/, /ee/, /ih/, /eh/, /uh/, and /ah/. This allows clients to feel where the articulators should be during speech. Combined with verbal and visual cues, this program offers a multisensory approach to facilitating speech.
The program includes one set of each:
- Bilabial shapes
- Tactile tubes
- Speech blocks
- An instruction manual and demonstration videos
These tools are carefully selected and designed to support clients in improving their speech skills. The tactile tubes and bilabial shapes are specifically designed to help clients correctly position their lips and tongue for accurate sound production. The speech blocks are an effective tool to promote articulation, especially for clients who struggle with transitioning from individual sounds to fluent speech.
This program, offered by Senso-Care, is a valuable addition to the toolkit of any speech therapist, especially those working with clients with apraxia or other speech disorders. The included instruction manual and demonstration videos make it easy for both professionals and caregivers to effectively apply the techniques and exercises.
