Method - didactic information
The circles are divided from wholes into ten tenths. They are compared with the divided triangles and the divided squares.
Naming lessons are given. The fractions are labelled.
Various decorative experiences are possible with circles, triangles and squares.
Fractions are taken from the circle, e.g. 1/2 and the child is prompted to fill the free space with smaller equal parts. The child tries one third. It doesn't fit. Then they take a quarter, two quarters fit perfectly in the free space. After lots of sensory experience, the problems can be written down 1/2 = 2/4. The equal value of fractions has been learned.
