The ladybird hotel: a feel-good home!

Offer your ladybirds (e.g. from the breeding kit) and other pest controlling insects a safe haven. You can fill the little house very easily with straw, hay, leaves or even little pinecones. You just need to open the wooden flap at the side then close it again. The ladybirds fly into their hotel via the practical entry holes at the front.

The ladybirds will probably also be visited by other insects, such as earwigs and lacewings, both of which are useful as pest control. There is always something going on at the ladybird hotel, and now children will be able to see up close how the little animals move into the hotel.

At the back there is a practical eyelet to hang the whole thing up. Ideally the hotel should be positioned approx. 1 to 2 m up on a tree. But you can also put it in another elevated location.

TIP: the ladybird hotel should be protected against bad weather and hung so that it is facing the sun.

Use this lovely hotel in combination with the Hagemann ladybird breeding kit and let the ladybirds you have bred yourself move into the hotel. Children will first experience the development of the adult ladybirds from larvae, then they can offer the animals a fabulous home.

This hotel is also an ideal place for the ladybirds to overwinter! In winter ladybirds need somewhere safe to retreat to where they can overwinter.

The ladybird hotel is excellent for nature projects in nursery, or it can be used in biology lessons.
