The "Beluga - Weighted Vest - Classic" is specially designed for people with high, hypertonic muscle tension. This vest provides substantial weight and pressure through tension. It combines pressure and weight to stimulate skin receptors, which send new impulses to the nervous system. These new stimuli help the brain adjust muscle tension, align the torso, and then stabilize the arms, legs, hands, and feet.

The vest provides the same deep pressure as in the womb, which can have a calming effect. It is a valuable tool in treating sensory integration issues, postural disorders, concentration problems, autism, ADHD/ADD, and other mental or physical disabilities.

Beluga weighted vests are made of high-quality materials suitable for people with allergies and are produced in Germany. The fabric is breathable and highly durable, suitable for intensive use. The design does not restrict movement but helps improve fine motor skills. The vests are not sedatives or therapeutic aids but provide the body with better self-perception.

Beluga weighted vests are adjustable to the wearer's size and weight. They can be worn for a maximum of 30 to 40 minutes and can be removed by the wearer at any time. Wearing this vest is entirely voluntary and provides support without any form of restriction.

Thanks to the unique 3D Belutex fabric, the vest evenly distributes weight and pressure over the body, helping to calm the nervous system and improve posture. This innovative approach was developed by Thorsten Albrecht, an occupational therapist who wanted to create a simple tool to support his therapy and help patients continue their progress at home.

For over 20 years, weighted vests have been used to complement other therapeutic measures for sensory integration issues. They are not a substitute for medical advice or treatment, but they can improve sensory processing, especially in children with ADHD, autism, and other disorders.

The vests are easy to clean. Light stains can be removed with a damp cloth. For machine washing, we recommend putting the vest in a pillowcase or the provided bag and washing it with other laundry to maintain balance in the drum.

The Beluga Sand Therapy® vests have been a well-known and valued tool for therapists and doctors for more than 20 years. They are often used to help manage disturbances in self-perception and sensory processing, which often accompany diagnoses such as ADHD, autism, developmental delays, psychological stress, motor and mental restlessness, stroke, Down syndrome, physical and mental disabilities, and dementia. Sensory processing is essential for everyone, regardless of diagnosis or age. Without proper processing of sensory stimuli, especially through touch, we cannot function well. This is emphasized in the work of experts like Dr. Martin Grunwald ("Homo Haptikus") and Ulla Kiesling ("Sensory Integration in Dialogue®").

Unfortunately, the vests are sometimes misunderstood as educational tools for parents and teachers. This is incorrect! General understanding of the role of touch has been limited for over 30 years. Although we are making technological progress, there is often a lack of insight into the connections within our own bodies. Only when problems arise do we become aware of the need for good sensory processing. Beluga wants to provide education and ensure that their vests are used correctly and where they are most needed.

Some facts about the Beluga Sand Therapy® vests:

  • Therapy vests do not restrict freedom of movement. They are even used in sports to improve fine motor skills.
  • They are not a sedative; the calmness is due to the stimuli, similar to a deep massage.
  • They are not educational tools but a means of helping the body to perceive itself.
  • They are tailored to the size and weight of the wearer, with muscle tone playing an important role.
  • The recommended wearing time is a maximum of 30 minutes.
  • The vests can be taken off at any time by the wearer.
  • Since wearing is voluntary, there is no deprivation of liberty, fixation, or bodily injury.
  • The spine is relieved because the muscles are strengthened, and posture is improved.
