Dot Game with Board

The Dot Game with Board is an essential educational tool that helps children transition from calculating with materials to doing so without aids. This game continues the work with the Golden Beads Material, preparing children to add without any physical support. The goal is to understand and practice the principle of grouping every ten units into a higher place value.

The board is made of MDF and is enclosed in a beechwood frame, ensuring durability and a sturdy structure. The board measures approximately 39 x 23 x 1.5 cm and features a clear white surface with the game pattern printed on it. This provides a straightforward way to perform additions, even with multi-digit numbers.

With the Dot Game, children learn to perform additions with multi-digit numbers at an early age. The focus is on reaching the grouping number 10, transitioning to a higher place value, and correctly calculating the result at each position. This game deepens the understanding of carrying numbers and helps children tackle more complex math tasks with confidence.

To use the game, write a multi-digit addition problem in the place value table. The digits in the units place are entered as dots in the first column. Complete rows of dots are crossed out with a black marker and replaced by a black dot in the lower field. The remaining unit dots are written as a number in the bottom field. The number of tens to be carried over is noted in the tens column with a red marker. Then, add the digits in the tens column and repeat the process as done in the units column. Finally, the result appears at the bottom.

Note: The non-permanent red and black markers are not included. We recommend our set of non-permanent markers with felt eraser and magnet.
