Does chewing on pen caps and pencil erasers sound familiar? We have good news for you! Made in the USA, ARK Therapeutic's Krypto-Bite® Chewable Pencil Toppers offer a safe solution for both children and adults who feel the need to chew. Chewing can be a very effective way to help calm, self-regulate, and maintain concentration. That's why these chewing tools are perfect for homework, note-taking, and more. An added benefit is that they also add extra weight to the pencil for increased hand awareness and to allow the pencil to comfortably rest between the thumb and index finger. They are modeled after the same prism shape as our Krypto-Bite necklace, but with a hollow tube on one side so they easily fit over standard #2 pencils.
Like all other ARK chew products, they are available in 3 color-coded toughness levels:
- Standard - This is the softest level, recommended for mild chewers (those who do not chew through anything).
- XT / Medium Firm - This is the middle level. It's firmer, but still fairly chewable, recommended for moderate chewers.
- XXT / Very Firm - This is the toughest level. It still has some "chewability" to it, but it's fairly rigid and firm.
No chew product is indestructible, but this is usually the longest-lasting level for avid chewers.
Choose your option from the menu above. Each topper is sold individually with its own free eraser-less pencil. Color shades may vary slightly. Please note: the bottom half of these toppers is hollow to fit over pencils, and therefore they are not recommended for avid/aggressive chewers. The best options for avid chewers are our solid XXT chew tools sold here. It is recommended to use them with eraser-less pencils (a free one is included with each topper). Each topper measures approximately 7 cm in length and 1.3 cm in diameter.

Caution: This product is not a toy. Recommended for children aged 6-7 and older. While these chew tools are robust and durable, no chew tool is indestructible. Wear and tear can be expected given the nature of the intended use. Always supervise, inspect the chew tool regularly, and replace if necessary if it shows signs of wear and tear.

While the majority are satisfied, there are some points of concern that our customers mention. Some customers indicate that the topper can easily slip off the pencil, increasing the risk of loss. Also, the product doesn't seem to fit snugly on every pencil. Furthermore, there's an issue with the design where some children have stuck something inside, which was challenging to remove. Another comment was that it's sometimes unclear where the chewing part of the topper ends and the section of the pencil in the Krypto-Bite begins, which can result in the pencil's tip being damaged. Lastly, a customer pointed out that the provided pencil was of poor quality and that the cap was too narrow for their pencils.
In general, customers are pleased with the quality and functionality of the Krypto-Bite chewing top, but they would like to see some improvements in the design and fit.
